A Good Day

Isn't it interesting how our days go exactly as WE make them? Good or bad? We have choices. Good or bad. We have control of our brain functions and can and do, choose what we want to think about. We decide how we want to react to certain things. Our days are a conglomeration of decisions from the moment we awake until we close our eyes at night. Soooooo...... where do our problems originate? In our brains! Unless a piano falls on top of us from a 10 story building. Then, I guess we just had a really BAD day.

Anyway, I tried to stay on top of things today. Tried to stay on top of every thought that came to mind. Joyce Meyer wrote a book called 'Battlefield of the Mind'. I have the book but have not read it yet. The cobwebs are decorating it nicely at this point. If I read it, then I'll have to give up all my theatrics and my reputation as Drama Queen will be destroyed! Hey, I'm not overreacting. I'm freaking out in a very proper fashion!

I actually moved furniture around in my house today. And, I mean from one room to another room with a lovely, antique "bridal "sofa. It was a tricky move but I didn't break anything. I also moved a very heavy chest of drawers. Then, furniture was dusted and polished. Natalie played nicely today and was in a very cheerful mood. What an angel.....

I cooked chicken fried steak, gravy, mashed potatos and green beans for dinner. It turned out pretty good. I had two grandmothers who were amazing cooks and they taught me all about Southern cooking. They also taught me how to cook a Thanksgiving dinner. Since my parents moved to Algeria, I had to learn how to cook that meal by myself if I wanted it for my family. And, I did want it for my family! That meal is fun to cook. Every year I take a moment to analyze each dish at the table before we begin to eat and I am amazed at how much work it takes to put it all together. How can it take so long and non-stop washing of dishes from beginning to end of the cooking process, just for this one table full of food?

This was a good day, filled with many blessings. :-)
